The concert takes place on the back lawn of the mansion and is free. The public is encouraged to bring their lawn chairs or blankets, and picnics are welcome.
C the Beat under the direction of Lee Carroll will provide the entertainment. C The Beat explores the musical connections between Africa and the New World, playing music that is joyful, energetic and highly danceable.
Lee Carroll has a long career as a keyboardist, studio musician, producer, and arranger. He attended Berklee College of Music in Boston in the 70s, then toured with his jazz fusion group Fly By Night. In 1983, Lee moved to Nashville where he served as band leader for The Judds for two years, then joined Kentucky’s own Exile to record on the Epic and Arista labels. Lee left Nashville in 1994 to pursue other business, returning to Lexington in 2010 where he regularly performs with various groups.
