Chamber Music Festival of Lexington alumni Karen Slack (soprano) accompanied by Cliff Jackson on piano will team up for the second time on behalf of the festival, which is celebrating it’s 10th season. This intimate evening of music at the newly renovated Blue Grass Trust mansion at 210 North Broadway (known formerly as the Women’s Club) will be a fundraiser for the Chamber Music Festival of Lexington, featuring wines, food catered by Donna Potter, and a custom lounge provided by Ethan Allen.

About Karen Slack
Hailed for possessing a voice of extraordinary beauty, a seamless legato and great dramatic depth, soprano Karen Slack is in demand across the US, Europe and Asia. She was most recently heard in the title role of Tosca and as Leonora in Il trovatore with Arizona Opera, Mahler Symphony No. 2 with The Latvian National Symphony, Beethoven Symphony No. 9 with Alabama Symphony, and as Aida with West Bay Opera. She made her Metropolitan Opera and international radio broadcast debuts in the title role of Verdi’s Luisa Miller, and made her Carnegie Hall debut as Agnes Sorel in Tchaikovsky’s Maid of Orleans, a role she also performed with the San Francisco Opera. She also was a featured artist for the Chamber Music Festival of Lexington’s 2014 program. More recently, Ms. Slack opened the Lexington Philharmonic’s latest season performing in Mahler’s “Resurrection” Symphony No. 2.
About Cliff Jackson
A graduate of Oberlin College, Cliff Jackson is often cited for his sensitive accompaniments and insightful musicianship, and has been the pianist for many internationally renowned artists, including Renée Fleming, Kathleen Battle, Renata Scotto, Simon Estes, Edda Moser, Felicia Weathers, and Gwendolyn Bradley. His skill as a collaborative artist has earned him a place on the stages of Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. Mr. Jackson was awarded a coaching fellowship by the American Opera Center at the Juilliard School, and Mr. Jackson has been recognized as a leading pianist from among the pool of his peers. He has also acted as pianist, organist, and harpsichordist while on the musical staffs of Miami Opera, Tulsa Opera, and the Mobile Opera. A faculty member at UK for decades, Mr. Jackson’s extensive work with singers, in particular his work with UK’s opera program, has earned him a wide reputation as an outstanding coach of vocal repertoire. In 2008 Classical Singer Magazine named him Coach of the Year.
