Appalatin fuses foot-stomping Appalachian folk with high-energy Latin rhythms to create a genre-bending sound that is sure to make you dance. Comprised of Kentucky-raised musicians and masterful Latin émigrés from Ecuador, Nicaragua and Guatemala, Appalatin reflects the unexpected intersection they represent. The quintet’s eclectic songs incorporate instruments from both Appalachia and Latin America, including guitar, mandolin, upright bass, charango, indigenous Andean flutes, hand percussion, harmonica and dynamic vocal harmonies. The result is a seamless amalgamation of joyous folk music.
