Woodford Theatre will host a weekend of community events to raise support and awareness of their annual initiative The Girl Project, which works to empower young women. On Friday, March 18, a gala at the Downtown Arts Center (141 E. Main St., 7 p.m.) will include artwork by Girl Project guest artists and alumni, a Gallery Hop cocktail hour fundraiser and silent auction and a performance by Girl Project alumni.
Events on Saturday, March 19 will include development workshops for educators and interviews and auditions for The Girl Project Class of 2016 at the Central Branch of the Lexington Public Library. Screenings of the documentary films “The Mask You Live In” (1 p.m.) and “Miss Representation” (3:30 p.m.) at the Farish Theatre (140 E. Main St.) will follow, with panel discussion on gender equality taking place between the two screenings.
