Artists are invited take to the streets for Paint the Town, and 11th annual outside – en plein air – painting event organized by Arts Connect. Artists will choose a favorite spot and create a cityscape of downtown Lexington, capturing its color and historic charm. On Saturday, June 25 between 8 a.m.-2 p.m., the public can watch Plein Air artists at their easels, as they work in different media creating images and all within a walkable area of downtown Lexington. Artists are encouraged to pre-register online. The registration fee is $50.00. It is also possible to register on the morning of the event, but pre-ordered box lunches will not be available for these late entries. https://www.artsconnectlex.org/paint-the-town.html
Paintings created that day will be displayed and for sale at Pam Miller Downtown Arts Center from June 25-July 18. Artwork must be completed, framed and returned to PMDAC no later than 2:30 p.m. in order to be included in judging and exhibiting. Artworks will be on view at an Opening Reception at PMDAC from 6:30-9 p.m. on Saturday, June 25; judging is done anonymously and cash awards for Best in Show, 2nd and 3rd place, as well as Honorable Mention and People’s Choice, will be announced at the Exhibition Opening and Reception that evening.
Tickets to the reception are $30 each and include hors oeuvres and a beverage with wine, beer and soft drink selections, they can also be applied as a discount of $25 value towards the purchase of artwork made that evening. One ticket only per artwork.
