Participants will explore beginner botanical watercolor techniques with hands-on instruction and encouragement. Deborah will demonstrate how to plan and begin a botanical sketch of found natural objects. Botanical objects for painting will be provided. Participants are encouraged to bring their own botanical specimens, if desired. Plant items only, please (objects with a stem, leaf, or flower).
Deborah will guide attendees in basic sketching techniques for botanical study and watercolor glazing techniques to apply color to our sketches. This workshop is intended to inspire, encourage, and empower you to use these techniques in a practice of your own, if desired, or to simply offer an opportunity to explore the watercolor medium. You will leave the workshop with your own brush, a completed watercolor sketch, and a basic watercolor set. All levels of painting experience are welcome."
This workshop will be held at the Mill & Max Gallery space inside the Shambhala Meditation Center, surrounded by the inspiration of Deborah's artworks currently exhibited in "Offerings: Vignettes from the Earth."
Materials are provided and included in the workshop cost ($50)
