Central Kentucky's signature outdoor, made-from-scratch food + music festival will return to the MoonDance at Midnight Pass Amphitheater and Beaumont Circle September 13- 14, 2014. The second annual event follows a successful first year, two-day event that featured 30 local food vendors, 14 live music acts, and about 10,000 visitors from all over the Bluegrass. “I am excited about what can come out of this year with more vendors and new programming highlighting the bounty of our farms and food scene that has emerged from our great Commonwealth,” says festival director, Robbie Morgan.
The 2014 festival will bring back some of last year’s favorite events, including several “pop-up” events in the weeks and months leading up the festival weekend, as well as much of the festival programming, which is geared toward kids and adults of all ages and levels of culinary interest.
Chef John Foster of Sullivan University’s Culinary School notes, "From the very first culinary demonstration to the last course of the Hi-Lo-Slo onsite dinner, it was an absolute joy to see the creative involvement by student and teacher alike. And this year we expect to have the same inventive and collaborative demonstrations ... and the dinner – joining chefs, growers, students and artists – will again highlight Crave's main concept of communal
Unique among music festivals, the Crave Lexington food + music makers' festival is free and open for all to enjoy. The stage will feature well-known acts from across the region with a special focus on local talent.
“We’re excited to again use Crave’s music stage to highlight the wealth of diverse talent from Lexington and Kentucky,” said Saraya Brewer, editor of tadoo.com and chair of Crave’s music committee. “We also hope to branch out and present some up-and-coming and established acts from around the region and country this year.
Diverse cuisine vendors from across the Commonwealth will serve small plate ticketed foods, encouraging sampling from several vendors. Cooking demonstrations for all-ages, lots of kid-friendly activities and events, an on-site dinner, a sorghum harvesting, local artisans and speciality food vendors will all be part of the Vendor applications for food, speciality food goods and non-profits will be available April 1, 2014.
